The Affirmation Chant Magnets and the gift book Believe hold a special place for me as I created them during my own struggle with self-esteem.

For many years my self-talk was very negative and these thoughts were preventing me from believing in myself and being successful. It was like I had a record on repeating '"you'll never make it," "you cant do that" etc., over and over and over.

One day, I decided, 'why not change the record and see what happens?' Even if I had to fake it, I could at least say something positive instead of repeating things that were negative. So I began to create chants to say to myself. I'd say them as I walked, as I washed dishes, or whenever one of the 'old' thoughts crept in.

I said things like “I am beautiful, talented, and creative” or “I am worth it, I am OK.” I’d say them over and over until I started feeling better.

After some time had passed, I was stopped by a lady on the street who owned a store I walked past every day. She asked me how I could be so positive, and where I got my confidence. Me? But when I started thinking about it, I realized I did feel that way, I had internalized the new thought patterns and beliefs.

Several years later, when I saw friends struggling with similar issues, I made word kits for them so they could try this trick too.

Each one came with an I AM board and a bunch of words to attach to it, either with Velcro, or small clothes pins. Inside the box I would include a sample rhyme/chant for them, to give them a place to start. It said:

"I am beautiful, brilliant and bright, I am utter, radiant light. I am talented, I will succeed. if I believe in myself, my fears will be freed. For I am my dreams, and my dreams are me, they will carry me to my destiny. And if, to myself, I remain true, there won't be anything I can't do".

This poem became the seed for the book, Believe.

Since I didn't know this trick when I was a child, I wrote Believe to catch children early and remind them their words to themselves are just as powerful as the people who bully them, and by believing their own ideas, they can be anyone they want to be. Believe shows them how to replace negative ideas with their own positive mantras, choosing for themselves who they wish to be.

It is my hope that these gifts will warm your heart, make you smile, and remind you:

Whether our beliefs are held by us or taught to us, I truly do believe they will affect our life, (for good or bad). We are beautiful souls that deserve to be radiant, so lets feel good inside and shine, shine, shine!
